Oussama Kanaan
Director,
IMF's Middle East Center for Economics and Finance

Oussama Kanaan is the Director of the IMF’s Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (CEF). His work in economics covers several world regions, including as mission chief and resident representative, during his service in the IMF’s Policy Development and Review, Fiscal Affairs, African, and Middle Eastern and Central Asian departments. He has published in the areas of economic growth, trade and development, and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.

Mohamed Trabelsi

Mohamed Trabelsi is a Senior Economist at the IMF’s Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (CEF) in Kuwait. Before joining the IMF, he worked as a senior economist for the Government of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. He was also a consultant at the African Development Bank in Tunisia, and a professor of Economics at Carthage University in Tunisia and at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). He holds a Ph.D. in International Economics from the University of Reims (France) and a Ph.D. in Macroeconomics from the University of Tunis Al Manar (Tunisia).

Mohamed Belhaj

Mohamed Belhaj is a Senior Economist at the IMF's Middle East Center for Economics and Finance in Kuwait. He was previously Professor of Economics at Ecole Centrale Marseille. He graduated from Tunisia Polytechnic School and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Toulouse School of Economics. He has published on a broad range of topics in economics including in finance and network theory.

Nooman Rebei
Senior Economist,
IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department

Nooman Rebei is a Senior Economist at the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department. He has a Ph.D. in economics from University of Quebec at Montreal, specializing in macroeconomics and monetary and fiscal policies. Before joining the IMF, he was a Principal Economist at the Central Bank of Canada and Central Bank of Spain. He also worked at the Central Bank of the UAE as head of the research section.
