In many economies, elevated debt levels leave little space to support the most vulnerable people. CNBC

Sara Eisen is co-anchor of the 10AM and 11AM ET hours of CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” (M-F, 9AM-12PM ET), which broadcasts from Post 9 at the New York Stock Exchange. Kristalina Georgieva
Managing Director, IMF

Kristalina Georgieva is the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She is the first person from an emerging market economy to lead the IMF since its inception in 1944. Before joining the Fund, Ms. Georgieva was Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank and also served as Interim President for a time. Previously, she served at the European Commission as Vice President for Budget and Human Resources – and as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. She was named “European of the Year” and “Commissioner of the Year” by European Voice for her leadership in the European Union’s humanitarian response to crises.

 

Nadia Fettah

Appointed Minister of Economy and Finance by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on October 7, 2021, Mrs. Nadia Fettah is the first woman to hold this position in the Kingdom of Morocco. Between 2019 and 2021, she held the position of Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy. A graduate of “Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales” in Paris in 1994, she began her career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen before creating a private equity fund in Morocco which she managed for 5 years. After managing a large insurance company in Morocco, she accompanied a leading investment holding company in its merger-acquisition operations in Africa and the Middle East. In 2017, she was appointed Managing Director of Sanlam Pan Africa Group. "CEO of the Year" in 2018 by the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, in the field of insurance. Founding member of the Club of Women Executive Directors in Morocco and a member of the international network “Women Corporate Directors”. Nadia FETTAH is married and mother of two children.

 

 

   
Mateusz Morawiecki
Prime Minister of Poland

Born on June 20, 1968, in Wrocław. Polish politician and manager, former CEO of Bank Zachodni WBK. Mateusz Morawiecki is a graduate of the University of Wrocław, Business Administration Central Connecticut State University and the Wrocław University of Technology, MBA studies at the Wrocław University of Economics, University of Hamburg and the University of Basel. He started his professional career at Cogito Company in 1992. M. Morawiecki worked at Enter Marketing-Publishing in Wrocław in 1993-1996. In 1995, he completed an internship at the Deutsche Bundesbank, and from 1996 to 1997, he worked at the University of Frankfurt am Main. In 1998, he became Deputy Director of the Accession Negotiations Department in the Committee for European Integration and was a member of the group negotiating Poland's accession to the European Union (Banking and Finance). From 1998 to 2001, he worked at Bank Zachodni, first as an advisor to the President of the Management Board, then as a Member of the Management Board and Managing Director. In June 2001, Mateusz Morawiecki became a Member of the Management Board of Bank Zachodni WBK, and he was appointed President of the Management Board in May 2007.

 

Joachim Nagel
President of the Deutsche Bundesbank

Joachim Nagel has been President of the Deutsche Bundesbank since January 2022. Prior to this, he had already served in management positions at the Bundesbank between 1999 and 2016, including as an Executive Board member from 2010 with responsibility for the Directorates General Markets, Controlling and IT. From 2016 to 2020, he worked for the KfW Group, including as an Executive Board member. In 2020, he moved to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) where he became Deputy Head of the Banking Department. Dr Nagel studied economics at the University of Karlsruhe and received a doctoral degree in 1997. He also serves as a member of the Governing Council of the ECB, a Governor at the IMF and a member of the BIS Board of Directors.

 

Raghuram Rajan

Raghuram Rajan is the Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago’s Booth School. He was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India between 2013 and 2016, Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Bank for International Settlements (2015-16) and Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund (2003-2006). Dr. Rajan’s research interests are in banking, corporate finance, and economic development. His book Fault Lines won the Financial Times prize for best business book in 2010 and his most recent book, The Third Pillar: How Markets and the State hold the Community Behind , was a finalist for the award in 2019.

Dr. Rajan was the President of the American Finance Association (AFA) and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He received the AFA’s inaugural Fischer Black Prize in 2003, the Deutsche Bank Prize for financial economics in 2013, Euromoney magazine’s Central Banker of the Year award in 2014, and The Banker magazine's Global Central Banker award in 2016. Rajan is Senior Economic Advisor to BDT Capital, a Managing Director at Andersen, and a member of the governing board of KREA University, the Economic Advisory Panel Federal Reserve Bank of New York and of the IMF Managing Director’s External Advisory Group.
