OVERVIEW
To achieve developmental goals and sustain growth, enhancing domestic revenue mobilization is critical. In this joint IMF-World Bank event, a panel of Finance Ministers will discuss challenges and success stories in their endeavors to boost revenues in a sustainable manner over the medium term, and how the World Bank and the IMF can provide support, including through the new Joint Domestic Resource Mobilization Initiative.

Carlos Fernández Valdovinos is the current Minister of Economy and Finance in Paraguay. He was previously the Governor of the Central Bank of Paraguay and has worked both at the World Bank and the IMF.

Muhammad Aurangzeb is the Minister responsible for Finance and Revenue in the Federal cabinet of the Government of Pakistan. Prior to this responsibility, Mr. Aurangzeb had been a successful international career banker for over 35 years having served most recently at Pakistan’s largest systemically Important Bank (HBL) as President & CEO.

Vitor Gaspar
Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department, IMF
Mr. Gaspar is Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department at the IMF. He joined in 2014. Before that, he was Portuguese Minister of State and Finance from 2011–13, and has held various positions in European and Portuguese institutions, including head of BEPA at the European Commission, director-general of research at the European Central Bank, director of Economic Studies and Statistics at the Central Bank of Portugal, and Director of Economic Studies at the Portuguese Ministry of Finance. Mr. Gaspar holds a Ph.D. and a post-doctoral agregado in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa; he graduated from Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
