In an era of rapid change and increasingly complex global challenges, timely and high-quality data are essential for effective policymaking. Yet, traditional statistical systems can struggle to keep pace with the speed and complexity of today’s policy demands. This event will explore how innovation and emerging technologies are transforming the way macroeconomic statistics are compiled and disseminated, and what this means for better-informed policy decisions. Drawing on decades of capacity development experience, the IMF supports member countries in strengthening statistical institutions, modernizing data production, and expanding the use of new tools and data sources. Through the Data for Decisions (D4D) Fund, the IMF works with development partners to advance statistical modernization, help countries build resilient data systems, and meet the evolving needs of policymakers and the public.
