Managing Director, IMF

Kristalina Georgieva is the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She is the first person from an emerging market economy to lead the IMF since its inception in 1944. Before joining the Fund, Ms. Georgieva was Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank and also served as Interim President for a time. Previously, she served at the European Commission as Vice President for Budget and Human Resources – and as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. She was named “European of the Year” and “Commissioner of the Year” by European Voice for her leadership in the European Union’s humanitarian response to crises.

Managing Director and World Bank Group Chief Financial Officer

Anshula Kant is Managing Director and World Bank Group Chief Financial Officer. She leads the Group’s financial strategy, resource mobilization and risk management across IBRD, IDA, IFC and MIGA. She oversees Group Treasury, Group Credit and Market Risk, and the Group Controllers department that is responsible for preparing the World Bank Group’s financial statements and disclosures. She chairs the Group Finance and Risk Committee, Group Asset and Liability Committee and World Bank Group Pension Finance Committee. 

Under her leadership, the finance team has spearheaded reforms and financial innovations that have expanded the World Bank Group’s financial capacity by tens of billions of dollars, while safeguarding its triple-A credit rating.  

Anshula has sought to instill a client-focused approach to all aspects of financing, and is a tireless advocate of partnerships, including with the private sector, to achieve development objectives.  

She played a key role in the strongest ever 21st replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank’s funding arm that supports the poorest countries.  

Prior to joining the World Bank Group in October 2019, Anshula was Managing Director and member of the Board of State Bank of India (SBI). With responsibility for the SBI's Credit Policy, Risk, Compliance, and Stressed Asset Portfolio, Anshula led the creation of investment opportunities while strengthening risk management.  

Earlier, Anshula served as the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of SBI, where she managed $38 billion of revenues and assets of $500 billion. In this role, she greatly improved the capital base of SBI and focused on long-term value creation. 

Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda

Hon. Soraya Munyana Hakuziyaremye was appointed Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda on February 25 th, 2025 . Prior to this role she was Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda since March 15, 2021. Hon. S oraya was also appointed as Ch air of the Alliance of Finan cial Inclusion (AFI) Board of Directors on September 3rd, 2025.

She served as Minister of Trade and Industry from October 2018 to March 2021, in Rwanda, where she led the implementation of the Made in Rwanda policy, contributing to a 9% average annual growth in the industry sector and a significant increase in exports. During her tenure, she also chaired the EAC Sectoral Council on Investment and Trade, playing a key role in the entry into force of the Africa n Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA). Additionally, she was a member of Rwanda’s National COVID -19 Taskforce, overs eeing the management of domestic and cross - border trade flows during the pandemic.

Before joining the Cabinet, Hon. Soraya held several senior roles in international banking and finance. From 2016 to 2018, she was Vice President in the Financial Institutions/Financial Markets Risk Department at ING Bank in London. She also previously wor ked in senior risk management positions at BNP Paribas Group in Paris, Fortis Bank, and the Bank of New York Mellon in Brussels between 2002 and 2011. From 2012 to 2014, she served as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Rwanda .

In addition to her leadership in finance and government, Hon. Soraya has played an active role in corporate governance and investment initiatives. She was a B oard member at Ngali Holdings and co -founded the Brussels -Africa Hub, an international non -profit organization led by banking and finance professionals to facilitate sustainable and responsible investments in Africa.

Hon. Soraya brings rich leadership experience in global banking and financial advisory, combining expertise in financial markets, risk management, and economic policy. She holds a postgraduate degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University (U.S.) and a Master’s in Business Engineering (Ingénieur de Gestion) from the Solvay Business School at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). She is also an alumna of the Executive Public Leaders Prog ram at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.
