Trade Diversification in Turbulent Times: Implications for Economic Stability and Growth

|

Location: G-07

AM26

Overview

Global trade patterns are being reshaped by fragmentation, conflict, and uncertainty, with recent shocks exposing vulnerabilities across many economies. Strengthening resilience requires sound macroeconomic frameworks as well as reducing exposure to external shocks through greater diversification of products, markets, and trade routes. Drawing on new analysis from the forthcoming MCD Regional Economic Outlook, this session will examine how trade diversification can strengthen resilience and create new opportunities in a changing global trade landscape, while exploring the policies and trade-offs involved. Bringing together policymakers, academics, and industry experts, the discussion will highlight practical lessons on advancing diversification and regional cooperation in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
